This blazingly bright and joyous choral fanfare makes an excellent Concert Opener and has done just that on various occasions throughout the Los Angeles area, including a number of multi-faith celebrations. Its world-premiere was in 1991 at Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, simulcast on KCET TV/KUSC-FM Radio to an estimated audience of three and a half million. Carol has enhanced the famous Latin phrase with uplifting English lyrics, words that celebrate the wonder of life, although she wrote the piece when she was very ill. The resilience of the human spirit she poured into this choral work seems to have spearheaded her recovery.
